Profibus Schematic August, 1995: SoftPLC Corporation includes support for Profibus devices connected to its SoftPLC, open architecture control software via a ProfibusDP interface card. This high-speed distributed I/O bus complements SoftPLC's extremely fast program execution times, leading to a control system that can handle applications requiring a very fast throughput, for both program scan and I/O scan. Profibus is fast becoming one of the most popular fieldbus I/O networks in the world, with devices manufactured by hundreds of different vendors worldwide.

The SoftPLC Profibus driver is included with the SoftPLC runtime kernel at no additional charge. SoftPLC supports up to 8 I/O interface cards in the same computer, and for both master and slave modes of communications. Extremely powerful control systems can be configured such as shown in the diagram.
